The IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) offers free basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals. VITA sites offer free tax help to people who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns, including people who generally make $67,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English-speaking taxpayers.
While the IRS manages the VITA program, VITA sites are operated by IRS partners and staffed by volunteers who want to make a difference in their communities. All VITA volunteers who prepare returns must take and pass tax law training that meets IRS standards. This training includes maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of all taxpayer information.
2025 VITA Program
We are happy to announce that the 22nd annual VITA program is returning for both In-Person and Virtual services!
In-person and Virtual services are available to taxpayers through appointments only. Dates, times, and locations will vary, and taxpayers must complete the VITA Appointment application to be scheduled for an appointment.
Limited In-Person appointments will be available at select community locations in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Please note that the VITA Appointment application will be available to taxpayers as early as: Monday, January 27th, 2025.
In the meantime, we encourage taxpayers to visit our website for updates and additional information. If you have any questions, please contact Community Development at community@bethpagefcu.com or (516) 349-4288.
